Speech-language pathologists are health care professionals who work with individuals who have difficulties with speech, language, and communication. Under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), speech-language pathologists may provide a range of services and supports to individuals with a disability, including:

  • Assessing an individual's communication abilities: A speech-language pathologist can assess an individual's communication abilities, including their speech, language, and swallowing skills. This assessment can help identify any areas of difficulty and inform the development of a treatment plan.

  • Providing speech-language therapy: Speech-language pathologists can provide therapy to individuals with a disability who have difficulties with speech, language, or swallowing. This may include exercises and activities to improve communication skills, as well as strategies and techniques for using alternative forms of communication.

Overall, speech pathologists can play a key role in supporting individuals with a disability who have difficulties with communication, and in helping them achieve their goals and participate in the community. Under the NDIS, speech-language pathologists can provide a range of services and supports to individuals with a disability.
